When DLF Seeds – the world’s biggest grass seed breeder – needed their washrooms completely renovated at their UK headquarters in Inkberrow, they came to Complete Heating. They wanted something that matched their commitment to quality and innovation. This major commercial job showed what we can do with complex renovations while keeping a busy industrial facility running smoothly.
About This Project
We worked closely with DLF Seeds on a major renovation of their factory washroom facilities. The old amenities got transformed into modern, professional spaces that fit perfectly with their £4.5 million facility upgrade programme.
The project covered three separate washroom areas – men’s, ladies’, and disabled facilities. Each one needed careful planning to keep disruption minimal for the 2000+ employees working across DLF’s global operations.
We handled 140m² of floor tiling across wooden substrates, 40m² of wall tiling, complete plastering works, plus installation of new sanitary ware throughout. Managing every single detail from initial consultation right through to the final threshold strip installation was essential. The facility’s professional standards had to be maintained whilst employees and visitors carried on with their daily routines.

Our Approach
Flooring Work: We used a decoupling matting system on the wooden subfloors. This protects against moisture and handles any movement in the underlying structure. Then we laid commercial floor tiling across 140m² of washroom space, with proper waterproofing underneath all tiled areas.
Wall Finishes: Ceramic wall tiling went up across 40m² in multiple washroom areas. We used commercial-grade adhesives and grouts that can handle the demands of a busy workplace.
Men’s Toilet Refurbishment: This was a complete overhaul. New urinals with all the pipework, new toilet with waste connections, and 2 vanity units with taps and waste systems. We tiled the walls and floors throughout, plus plastering work to get the surfaces ready.
Ladies’ Washroom: Here we installed 4 new toilets with plumbing, 4 new taps and waste fittings, and floor tiling throughout.
Disabled Toilet: Replaced the toilet to ensure it meets accessibility requirements.
Finishing Touches: We trimmed doors to work with the new floor levels and fitted new threshold strips for smooth transitions.
Challenges We Solved
Working with existing wooden floors meant installing decoupling matting to prevent tiles cracking from substrate movement whilst keeping moisture out.
The plumbing work was extensive – new pipework for multiple toilets, vanity units, and waste systems across several areas. Plastering was needed to prep surfaces properly for tiling.
We had to coordinate everything carefully to integrate new installations with existing building services while keeping the facility running.
The Numbers
Our team completed 180m² of tiling work in total (140m² floors plus 40m² walls). The plumbing side involved new waste pipework and water connections for multiple toilets, vanity installations, and urinal systems. We handled door adjustments and threshold work to integrate everything with the new floor levels.
